Qatar boasts a very close tie to historic Arab cuisine, relatively unchanged by time with a few exceptions of Persian influences and more recent Indian influences due to a high rate of immigration to the country. Many dishes are stewed and richly spiced with complex blends. Qatar sits on the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Bahrain, so seafood and dates are both staples to the diet.
