This Western Siberian oblast is situated in the taiga, a subartic zone that is densely covered in forests. While there were ancient groups of people who lived in the area during the Bronze Age, development and settlement didnβt really start until the late 16th century. Because of this, much of the food here was brought by settlers from other parts of Russian and the regionβs cuisine is a mix of dishes from other areas of Russia.
