Laos is the land where sticky rice reigns supreme - citizen each more sticky rice per year than any other country in the world. But there’s so much more to Lao cuisine. The cuisine is a distinct blend of Chinese and Indian cuisine that leans heavily on the native greens, fruits, and spices of landlocked land. Additionally, there’s still a bit of French influence due to the French colonization of the area. Expect varieties of larb (a marinated meat/fish with herbs, greens, and spices), plenty of tam mak hoong (green papaya salad), and lots of grilled foods.
