𝚊𝚋𝚘𝚞𝚝 𝚙𝚞𝚎𝚛𝚝𝚘 𝚛𝚒𝚌𝚊𝚗 𝚌𝚞𝚒𝚜𝚒𝚗𝚎

This island in the Caribbean Sea is a contentious territory of the United States that has fought proudly to continue protecting its distinct culture and heritage in the face of modern colonialism. The food of Boricua is a fusion of Taíno (the indigenous group that gives the island the name “Boricua”), Spanish, and African (specifically Canarian) cuisines. The foods are simultaneously distinctly Caribbean and distinctly Latin American, with incredible diversity of food given the wide diversity of the geology of Puerto Rico.
