You can find three core styles of cuisine in the state of Telangana: Tegulu cuisine (that of the Tegulu people and also known as Andhra cuisine), Hyderabadi cuisine (a cuisine native to the stateβs capital of Hyderabadi), and Telangana cuisine (or the catch all phrase for the cuisine that exists through the rest of the state). Across the board, tamarind, red chilies, and asafoetida play a huge role in the dishes here. Where things get interesting is the fact that, unlike other South Indian cuisines, idlis and dosa are absent. Instead, you can expect millet-based carbs and roti.
